MaryAnn Gleockner, 59, of Chambersburg, PA died unexpectedly Monday evening, October 18, 2021, in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born October 19, 1961, in Sayre, PA she was the daughter of Richard Lee and Evelyn (Yingling) Gleockner.
A 1979 graduate of Athens Area High School she obtained an Associate’s degree from Broome Community College, a Bachelor’s degree from Elmira College, and a Master’s degree from Binghamton University for Social Science and Social Work for school age children.
MaryAnn worked as the Residential Director in Binghampton and then the Director of Residential Life at Wilson College in Chambersburg. She worked for a short time as a social worker at The Meadows of Chambersburg. Most recently she was a school social worker for Laurel Life and a Certified Licensed Social Worker.
She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Chambersburg, PA.
MaryAnn enjoyed traveling especially to the beach, her beloved cats, reading Stephen King books, spending time with her family, and had a strong faith in God. She especially enjoyed date nights and going to the movies with her wife. Mary Ann truly lived life to the fullest by taking every opportunity to do as much as possible on a whim.
She is survived by her wife of 18 years Wanda Holbert, two sisters Kathryn Gleockner and Louise Sackett (the late David Sackett) both of Athens, PA; two nieces Emily Chandler (husband Charles) of Tennessee and Kate Sackett (wife Ashley Stevens) and one nephew John-Mark Sackett all of Athens, PA, and by all the remaining members of Wanda’s large family as well.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter Sarah Eyd who passed away in December 2017.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday October 23, 2021 at 2 p.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 2695 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Face masks are optional.
A separate celebration of life will be held later, date and time to be determined, for her family and friends of the Athens/Sayre area.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road West, Chambersburg, PA 17201
