Attorney General Anthony G. Brown of Maryland unveiled the Office of the Attorney General’s (OAG) Strategic Plan today, marking significant milestones and setting clear priorities for the remainder of his term. Now in his historic first term as the 47th Attorney General of Maryland, Brown’s plan outlines the future direction and focuses of the office.

The Strategic Plan identifies five key priorities:

  1. Strengthening public safety and law enforcement.
  2. Protecting consumers, workers, and promoting fair business practices.
  3. Upholding civil rights and promoting equal justice.
  4. Ensuring good stewardship of public and natural resources.
  5. Modernizing the Office of the Attorney General and improving organizational efficiency.

The mission of the OAG under Brown’s leadership is to advise and represent the state government, enforce the law to protect the rights of Marylanders, and promote justice and equity statewide. The plan envisions a Maryland where community safety, equal opportunity, innovation, and a fair justice system enable all residents and businesses to thrive.

Brown emphasized the importance of the strategic plan as a foundational document that reflects past achievements and provides a detailed roadmap for future actions. It aims to ensure the Attorney General’s Office remains effective, efficient, and focused on service, justice, and equity.

The plan also reaffirms the OAG’s commitment to safeguarding the rights of all Marylanders against any threats, highlighting ongoing initiatives under Brown’s leadership that align with the office’s mission, vision, and values such as collaboration, equity, excellence, innovation, integrity, leadership, and service.

This strategic approach outlines how the Attorney General’s Office will continue to serve and protect the interests of Maryland citizens, ensuring that the state remains a place where justice and equity are at the forefront of governance.
