Maude M Thomas, age 96, of McConnellsburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, PA.

Maude was born on September 21, 1926, in Wells Tannery, PA, the daughter of the late Caulder Dickinson and Flo Truax Dickinson.

Maude married the late Charles Robert Thomas (deceased in 1993).

Maude worked as a Presser at the Sagner Company in McConnellsburg, PA.

She loved spending time with her family, quilting with her sisters, baking banana bread and apple dumplings, and going shopping. Her favorite saying was, “Yep, that’s just the way it is”.

Maude is survived by one son, Roy (husband of Connie) Barnett of Wells Tannery, PA; Four Daughters, JoAnne Truax of McConnellsburg, PA, Nancy (wife of Ronnie) Buterbaugh of McConnellsburg, PA, Lois (companion of Denver Kuhn) Kendall of McConnellsburg, PA, and Brenda (wife of Kenny) Deshong of Harrisonville, PA; one step daughter, Phyllis (wife of Ralph) Smith of Chambersburg, PA, 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren. Maude is also survived by one sister, Gaye McConaughey of Cassville, PA.

Maude is preceded in death by her parents, Caulder and Flo Dickinson, her first husband, Kenneth Barnett, her second husband, Charles Robert Thomas, one son, Roger Barnett, five siblings, George Dickinson, Percy Dickinson, LeRoy Dickinson, Clair “Jake” Dickinson and Roberta Morrison, and one infant brother, Jesse.

An evening of visitation at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home in McConnellsburg, PA on Friday, January 27, 2023, from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.

A graveside service will be scheduled in the future at Wells Valley United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wells Tannery, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Maude’s memory to Heartland Hospice, 417 Phoenix Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

The family has entrusted Maude’s care to Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home in McConnellsburg, PA.
