Attorney General Michelle Henry has filed a lawsuit against Jason Michael Fullmer, a chiropractor based in Mechanicsburg, accusing him of misleading patients about insurance coverage for their treatments. Fullmer, operating through Central PA Spinal Health Chiropractic, LLC, allegedly violated the Pennsylvania Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law, as well as the Pennsylvania Fair Credit Extension Uniformity Act.
The lawsuit claims that Fullmer misrepresented the extent of insurance coverage to patients, leading many to pay out-of-pocket for services they believed would be covered. In some cases, when patients failed to pay, they were threatened with debt collection.
An investigation by the Office of Attorney General’s Healthcare Section was launched after several consumer complaints. These complaints allege that Fullmer either did not file claims with patients’ insurers or refused to provide the necessary documentation for insurers to process payments. Despite failing to submit claims, Fullmer reportedly demanded large payments from patients.
Fullmer is also accused of encouraging patients to file complaints against their insurance companies, shifting blame away from his office.
Consumers who believe they were affected by these practices are urged to file a complaint with the Healthcare Section through the Attorney General’s website.
The lawsuit, filed in Cumberland County Court of Common Pleas, is being handled by Deputy Attorneys General Molly K. Pohlhaus and Tyler W. Ritchie.
