Changing rules for adoptions

The shelter has pretty well been on lockdown during the Covid pandemic with adoptions taking place by appointment only but that is about to change.

In June the shelter’s cattery opened to visitors looking to adopt one of CVAS’s homeless cat residents, including Andy.

Dogs can only be viewed by appointment with an approved application until they can become acclimated to visitors. So let the staff know of your interest in adopting Lucy and Daisy, and get your application in.

Hours to visit the CATS are: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

CVAS asks visitors to wear face masks to protect staff members.

For more information, call the shelter at 717-263-5791. To see animals available for adoption, log onto CVAS’s webpage here.

Thanks to Supporters, adopters

CVAS’s Communications Director Jennifer Vandrerau sends the following message to shelter supporters and donors:

“THANKS TO EVERYONE who helped keep the shelter going through this crazy year; and for understanding we are slowly working our way back to being open like we were before. Our supporters and adopters are the lifeblood of this organization and we APPRECIATE each and every one of you.”

And now meet Andy, Lucy and Daisy, this week’s featured pets at CVAS.

Meet three-month-old Andy

Meet Andy

Andy was brought into the shelter as a stray, so we know very little about his past. He is a 3-month-old buff boy who loves attention.

We discovered that Andy has Cerebellar Hypoplasia, which affects his motor skills, so he can be a little clumsy at times. Andy doesn’t know that he is different and while he may have a hard time jumping up on things, he still acts like any other kitten.

This condition is not painful or contagious and he can still have a happy life with it.

Can you give Andy a wonderful forever home?

Meet Lucy and her daughter Daisy

Meet
Lucy and Daisy are a mother-daughter duo hoping to stay together

A bonded mother/daughter pair, Lucy and Daisy arrived at the shelter when their owner passed away.

Lucy is 8 years old. Daisy is 6 years old and they are both Bichon/poodle mixes. Lucy is a happy girl that loves to give kisses! Daisy is a sweet girl that does a lot of “poodle praying” (where she sits up on her back legs and waves both front legs together) when she wants attention.

They will need someone that understands that they will need regular grooming so that they do not get matted.

If you are looking for the sweetest, lovable pair of girls Lucy and Daisy just might be your perfect match!
