2021 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships : Men’s relay team finish 7th
The Shippensburg University men’s 4×100-meter relay team of Stephon Brown (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East), Mo Whittle (Tobyhanna, Pa./Pocono Mountain West)), EJ Dorwil (Philadelphia, Pa./George Washington) and Eric Kirk (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area) finished seventh in Saturday’s finals with a time of 40.96 seconds to earn All-America First Team honors in competition held at Grand Valley State University.
The SU quartet became the first 4×100-meter relay in school history to earn All-America honors. The Raiders matched their seed after qualifyingseventh in Thursday’s prelims in 40.72 seconds.
The relay’s season-best time of 40.56 seconds, set in the prelims of the 2021 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Outdoor Championships, stands as the school record.
For another year, Edinboro retains the all-time PSAC record from 1977 when Curtis Pettis, Steve Davis, Howard Hackley and George Crunkleton ran 40.21 seconds.
All four Raiders are poised to return next year, as Brown, Whittle and Kirk completed their freshmen season of eligibility and Dorwil completed his sophomore season of eligibility.
Shippensburg has now scored a point at 12 consecutive NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships dating back through 2009.
