What Happened

Senior veterans Andrew Hale and Matt Bochanski once again scored in the 200-yard individual medley (IM). Hale, who qualified for the ‘B’ final as the 10th overall seed, finished 12th with an evening session time of 1:54.66. Bochanski, the last qualifier for the ‘B” final as the 16th seed from prelims, improved to 14th place in the evening with a finals time of 1:57.78.
It makes both men a four-time PSAC place-winner in the 200-yard IM. Hale placed third last year, eighth in 2020 and seventh in 2019. Bochanski placed ninth last year, sixth in 2020 and 14th in 2019.
Three Raiders contributed points in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Freshman David Johnson, who swam in the evening session, ended up in 12th place after delivering a time of 9:54.61. Redshirt-sophomore JC Greenwood was 14th in 10:00.90, and graduate Eric Zimmerman snuck in 16th place with a time of 10:06.77.
It is the fourth time in Zimmerman’s career that he has scored in the 1,000-yard freestyle, accompanying a ninth-place finish last year, an 11th-place finish in 2019 and a 10th-place finish in 2018.
To cap the evening session, the quartet of freshman Zaidian Van Orden, freshman Nathan VanNatter, Zimmerman and senior Trevor Woolwine delivered a sixth-place time of 6:59.62 in the 800-yard freestyle relay. Woolwine’s anchor-leg split of 1:42.97 is an enormous lifetime best. Van Orden and VanNatter managed the exact same split of 1:45.08 on their respective legs.
Junior Elijah Zinn paced four Raiders in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.67 seconds.
