Meritus Health announced that Chikezie Eseonu, M.D., medical director of neurosurgery, has published new research in Operative Neurosurgery, with the paper featured as a cover story in the journal’s April issue.
According to Meritus Health, Dr. Eseonu served as senior author and principal investigator on the study, which examined how different brain tumor surgery techniques affect white matter tracts, the brain pathways responsible for movement, speech, sensation and vision.
The study used advanced MRI tractography to measure the impact of surgery on brain tissue. Meritus Health said the findings show that minimally invasive brain surgery may better preserve function and support recovery compared to traditional open craniotomy.
