Meritus Health recently honored nearly 200 volunteers who support its mission across the health system’s campuses. These volunteers range in age from 14 to 90 and contribute in various roles, including bedside support, flower delivery, patient care assistance, and staffing the Repeat Performance Thrift Shop.
Originally formed in 1907 as the Ladies Aide Society, the volunteer group has grown significantly over the decades. Since 1952, members have collectively contributed more than 3.2 million hours of service.
The recognition event included a musical performance by the Sylvan Waters Duo.
Those interested in becoming a Meritus volunteer can contact the Volunteer Services Office at 301-790-8143 for more information.
