Michael Herbert Sheaffer 1940-2024

Michael Herbert Sheaffer, age 83, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024, at Wellspan York Hospital in York, PA.

He was born on July 26, 1940, in Middletown, PA, the son of Mabel Francis (Koontz) Sheaffer.

Mike worked in the lumber industry as a proud laborer for The Lumber Yard for many years before his retirement. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and was an avid sports fan who shared that love with his family and friends. His early morning breakfasts out with loved ones were one of his favorite activities.

He was a member of York Springs Fire Company No. 1 and always enjoyed helping his community and neighbors. He was a friend to all.

Mike is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy May Sheaffer; his daughters Kathi Jo (Robert) Colbert of Elko, NV and Leta Michele Sheaffer of York Springs, PA; his grandsons, Conner Michael Colbert of Reno, NV and Keegan Stuart Colbert of Pocatello, ID.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mabel Francis Sheaffer, stepfather, Amos “June” Smith, Jr., his sisters Shelvy Jean Sheaffer, Doris Orabelle Sheaffer, Helen Virginia Malinosky, and his brother, Kenneth Eugene Sheaffer.

Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville, PA.

A Celebration of Life Service to honor Mike will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 2 p.m. at York Springs Global Methodist Church, 840 Trolley Rd., York Springs, PA. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mike’s honor can be made to York Springs Fire Company No. 1, PO Box 315, York Springs, PA 17372.
