Ship U: Morgan DeFeo named to Academic All-District 2 Team

 Morgan DeFeo, a senior at Shippensburg University was named Thursday afternoon to the 2021-22 Division II Academic All-District 2 ® Softball Team, an award that recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom.

About Morgan Defeo

DeFeo is a senior academically and athletically who is double majoring in supply chain management & marketing. She maintains a 3.94 cumulative grade-point average (GPA).
 
The starting second basewoman for the Raiders, DeFeo tied two NCAA single-game records this season. Per the NCAA record books it is the 11th time that a player has had six hits in a single game, and the 12th time that a player has had six runs in a game.
 
DeFeo also earned her first PSAC Athlete of the Week this season. She is one of the team’s captains and bats second in the Raider lineup and helped the Raiders get in to the NCAA Atlantic Regional Tournament for the first time since 2014.
 
In 50 games, DeFeo has a .329 batting average with a home run, 20 RBIs, 10 doubles, 41 runs, 72 total bases, and a .416 slugging percentage. She leads the team with seven sacrifice bunts and has had 13 multi-hit games.  

Academic All-District Team 

The Academic All-District ® Team is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Marsteller was one of just four infielders selected to this year’s Academic All-District 2 ® Softball Team. District 2 includes all schools from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), Mountain East Conference (MEC) and the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).
 
DeFeo is now among those eligible for consideration for the Academic All-America ® Team that will be announced June 7.
