Naomi Ruth Marcus

Naomi was born on November 23, 1935, in Wood, PA, the daughter of the late E. Burling and Anna Mae (Anderson) Thomas.

She is survived by her three daughters; N. Diane Johnston and husband Tom, of McConnellsburg, PA, P. Janette (Jan) Wolfe and husband, Steven of Shippensburg, PA, and Patricia K. Hess and husband Denny of Hustontown, PA. All three of her sons-in-law were sure they were her favorite.

Naomi graduated from Robertsdale High School. She worked at Sagner, Inc., Huston Sportswear, and then J. L. G. Industries, retiring in December 2000.

She was a faithful servant and was well known in her community for her generosity. She volunteered at a number of different places over the years – baking for fundraisers, pulling weeds at her church, and volunteering at Hospice to name a few. She was loved by all for her faith, her thoughtfulness, and her quick witty comebacks. She had a gift for encouraging and making everyone laugh.

Naomi was blessed with nine grandchildren and five step grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and five step great grandchildren.

The majority of her grandchildren would say their favorite day of the year is Cookie Day with grandma.

In addition to her parents, Naomi was preceded in death by her husband, William W. (Bill) Conn, two sisters, Leeda Mae Young of Newton Falls, OH, and Emma Grace Sheats of Flemington, PA, twin brothers, Edward B. Thomas of Shippensburg, PA and Robert A. Thomas of McConnellsburg, PA, and three infant sisters, Josephine, Mary Martha, and Joan.

Naomi was married to Martin Marcus for 41 years.

God blessed Naomi with many gifts such as playing the organ and accordion by ear, singing in her beautiful alto voice and baking to name but a few. Her greatest joy was her family.

God blessed her with a long, healthy, faithful life, and it brings great joy to those who loved her that she heard Jesus’ sweet words, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”

Services will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service at Knobsville United Methodist church with Pastor Fred Marz officiating.
