Pennsylvania – Best-Trade-Schools.net awarded its first annual national scholarship designed to help people get the skills they need to make a mid-career job change to help adjust to a changing economy. Jamie Smith, 40, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania was awarded the first scholarship of its kind.
Smith is currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Wilson College. “I chose nursing because I have a heart to help people who cannot help themselves,” Smith said.
First winner of National Award
“I have been a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for the past three years and love working with the elderly at a local nursing home,” she said. “However, it was time to further my career. I felt that the years we have had dealing with Covid really affirmed this path for me. I see such a need to have nurses that not only do their job well, but who have a heart and a passion for each person as a whole.”
Best-Trade-Schools.net, based in Ohio, developed the New Journeys Scholarship which will be awarded once a year to help people moving into a technical field, whether it’s right out of high school or later in life.
“Trades schools and nursing programs are great places where people can get started in a job that leads to a good-paying career,” said Doug Crawford, who founded Best-Trade-Schools.net. “Our ‘New Journeys Scholarship’ is designed to help people cover the cost to get the skills they need to advance their career. I’m pleased that we are able to help Jamie get the training needed to become a nurse.”
