Nicholas Benjamin Sollenberger 1940~2021
Mr. Nicholas Benjamin Sollenberger, 80, of Chambersburg, died Friday, June 9, 2021, at Luther Ridge Retirement Community, Chambersburg.
He was the husband of Mrs. Jeannie Sollenberger, his wife of 30 years.
Born December 16, 1940, in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Glenn Harold, Sr., and Ruth Evelyn West Sollenberger.
In his earlier career, Mr. Sollenberger worked for Rife Motors, Chambersburg; but later became quite the entrepreneur founding and operating Nick’s Hoagie Shop and Sollenberger’s Messenger Service, both of Chambersburg.
He was a member of St. John’s Church.
Additionally, he was an avid football fan, especially following Penn State College football; and was a dirt track racing and Nascar fan. He supported the track racing at Port Royal, Pennsylvania, and Hagerstown, Maryland.
Surviving, besides his wife, are his children, Dwight A. Sollenberger and wife Cheryl E., of Chambersburg, and Michelle Powers and husband Charles of Fayetteville; step-children Deb Warren, and Curt B. Morrow and wife Wilma, all of Chambersburg; nine grandchildren, Zachary Sollenberger, Travis Warren and wife Kristy, Luke Warren and friend Ashley, Ben Morrow and wife Brie, Michael Duvall, Sabrina and Kyra Sollenberger, Jessie Morrow, and Vicki Duvall; as well as six great grandchildren, Aubrie, Ashton, Lacey, Hayden, Nolan, and Bricen; siblings, Arlene Cowden, Vonnie Angle, Glenn Sollenberger, Jr., Ann Young and Sherry Shearer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sollenberger was preceded in death by a grandson, Gabriel.
The William F. Sellers Funeral Home, Chambersburg is assisting the family with arrangements.
There will not be visiting at the funeral home.
A memorial service will be on Wednesday, July 28, 6 p.m., at St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2695 Luther Drive, Chambersburg. The Rev. Christopher A. Frye will officiate.
Inurnment will be at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Sollenberger’s name to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, 17603.
