There will not be an official tree lighting ceremony for 2020 in Greencastle.

The community Heritage Christmas tree will still come to life Nov. 20 in the Square with strings of glittering “Lights of Love.”

Sponsored by Blaise Alexander Cheverolet of Greencastle, these symbolic  “Lights of Love” shine “In Honor Of…” or “In Memory Of…” loved ones throughout the Christmas season. The beautifully scripted names on decorative scrolls also hang in the large corner windows of Growing With Music on the northwest corner of the Square.

“Lights of Love” may be purchased through Nov. 13. Forms are available at the Chamber located at 217 E. Baltimore Street or can be downloaded at greencastlepachamber.org. The cost is $8 per name, two for $15, or three for $20. Each additional name is $6.

Orders may also be placed by phone by calling the Chamber at 717-597-4610.

The 2020 Heritage Christmas tree has been donated by the Kennedy family of Greencastle. The tree is sponsored in part by the Borough of Greencastle and Antrim Township.

“The annual Heritage Christmas tree does more than honor living loved ones and those of blessed memory,” Interim Greencastle-Antrim Chamber Executive Director Valarie Meyers said. “It is a tribute to the entire Greencastle community.”

“Though we may not all be together in the Square to flip the switch for this year’s tree, it will still sparkle throughout the season, offering joy to all,” she said.
