In just two weeks, the statewide opening day of trout season will take place on Saturday, April 1. It is important to buy fishing licenses and permits as well as to organize your fishing gear. On Saturday, March 25, the commission will hold its statewide Mentored Youth Trout Fishing Day. This is an excellent opportunity to introduce a new generation of anglers to the joy of fishing. Youth anglers under the age of 16 must have either a free Mentored Youth Permit or a Voluntary Youth Fishing License to participate.
