The midterm election is coming up on November 3rd and although it may be cliche’ to say so, it is probably the most important election in our nation’s history.

I’ve tried to wrap my head around what’s going on with the American electorate, and as stated in the title, three main forces are at play: depravity, stupidity, and apathy. These three forces control what is happening with possibly as much as 75% of eligible American voters. The other 25% are those who still hang onto the traditional American values that made our country great. They are also savvy enough to know what is going on around them and aren’t too lazy to seek out the truth. I’m not saying that they all belong to one party or another, although the aforementioned traits I mentioned would tend to make them Republican. You won’t find any mush-brained independents in this 25%.

We’ve all seen polls indicating that Republicans may be in danger of losing the US Senate, the US House of Representatives, or both, and while it isn’t uncommon for the party in power to lose congressional seats in a mid-term, the prospect seems both perplexing and frightening this time, due to the candidates that the opposing party, the Democrats, are running. I write that because it can be safely said that the current Democratic Party has made its move from mere leftist all the way over to an anti-American socialist, or even communist, entity.
So, the first force at play in this election cycle is depravity.

For the public school-educated out there, the definition of depravity is, 1. Moral corruption or degradation., and 2.The state of being depraved or corrupted; a vitiated state of moral character; general badness of character; wickedness of mind or heart; absence of religious feeling and principle.

Folks, that defines today’s Democratic Party, which has been taken over by the Democratic Socialists of America, a group dedicated to the undoing of everything that is traditionally American.

Want proof? Well, just look at some of the things today’s Democratic Party stands for. In a recent Our Republic/Rasmussen poll, 24% of Democrats, almost one in four, stated that they are in favor of dissolving the state of Israel to get a deal with Iran if it led to low oil and gas prices. The word “dissolve” in this case means exactly the same as the phrase chanted by the Democrat/Islamo-facist demonstrators, “from the river to the sea”. Which means to destroy the Jewish state and its people.

This anti-Jewish hatred isn’t all talk. Democrats are on the street daily promoting their anti-Semitic and anti-Western ideas, bolstered by their imported Muslim extremist allies, who celebrate living in the greatest country on earth by calling for its destruction. Elected Democrat politicians are also not shy about their vile hatred of all things Western or Jewish. People such as New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, New York Mayor Zohran Mandani, Michigan Representative Rashida Tlaib, and Democrat Michigan Senate candidate Abu El-Sayed are all leaders in this depraved movement. Mandani recently observed the October 7th anniversary of the Hamas murder of hundreds of Israeli men, women, and children by repeating the debunked lie about the “genocide” against Arab citizens in Gaza, followed by dinner at an Islamic restaurant. You’ll notice that I didn’t write “Palestinians”, because there is no such ethnic group or nationality.

The platform proposed by these Democratic Socialists who are now running the Democratic Party doesn’t stop with Jew-hatred. Here is a list of things that they support:

-expanding voting rights beyond citizens to all permanent residents, including those who have criminal convictions.
-Statehood for Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and Guam.
-Elimination of the US Senate (which was created to give small states an equal voice in governing).
-Expanding the House of Representatives to an unspecified number.
-Replacing the two-party system with a “multi-party democracy”
-Abolishing the Electoral College and having Congress elect the president and Supreme Court.
-Implementing ranked-choice voting in all elections.
-Abolishing the police and the prison system
-Free healthcare and a “living wage” for all
-abolishing ICE and allowing unlimited immigration with a path to citizen for all immigrants.
-Defunding the Department of War and closing US Military bases.
-Ending blockades, embargoes and sanctions against Iran, Venezuela, and Cuba

These depraved policies are all supported by most in the Democratic Party and are geared toward destroying the United States of America, which Democrats consider an evil country.

You might ask how the Democrats have come to this point, and that can be explained in addressing the second force: Stupidity.

“Hanlon’s Razor” is an adage or rule of thumb that states, “Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.” That could explain the behavior of millions who support depraved national policy.
Stupidity and ignorance both enable depravity in national affairs, and we have plenty of both in America. There’s no excuse for being ignorant in today’s information-drenched environment, but there are millions who choose to be willingly ignorant, and that is where stupidity comes in. Those familiar with the movie “Forrest Gump” are familiar with the phrase “stupid is as stupid does”, and if that is the case, one look at the behavior of the wild leftist mobs and legions of whackos infesting the Democratic Party along with traditional and social media proves that point. Now, it wouldn’t be fair of me to state that all of these people are Democrats because that isn’t the case. Many groups who have attempted to glom on to the Republican side also fit into the stupid box, such as the Groypers (followers of the little Nazi Nick Fuentes and various podcasters such as Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens), libertarians such as Thomas Massie, conspiracy loons, or disgruntled ex-politicians like Majorie Taylor Greene. The point is that stupidity can be bi-partisan, and stupid people make stupid decisions at the ballot box.

There is also a generational aspect to stupidity and ignorance. The Millennial generation and Generation Z have been so poorly educated in our leftist-run public schools that they will believe practically anything that sounds good being pushed at them by dishonest educators, media, and politicians. Their knowledge of civics and history could fit in a thimble and most cannot read or write properly, making them functionally illiterate. Statistics have shown that Generation Z is the first American generation to have lower IQ scores than previous generations. Remember that poll I wrote about earlier in this column about the willingness of voters to destroy Israel to make a deal with Iran? Well, 19% of all voters agreed, and 24% of Democrats, but a whopping 46% of younger voters were fine with destroying Israel!

Since socialism and communism are both the revenge taken by mediocre people against the achievers in society, it makes total sense that stupid people would support the depraved policies of the Democrats and their new socialist platform.

The third and perhaps most frustrating force at work in the upcoming midterms is apathy. Plato, in his work, “Republic” Book I, wrote, “The punishment which the wise suffer who refuse to take part in the government is to live under the government of worse men.” That’s self-explanatory in that when people shirk their duty of being involved in their governance, bad…yes, depraved people will eventually become their leaders. We have a situation in this country where most voters don’t keep themselves informed as to what’s happening in the world around them and then don’t’ turn out for three out of four elections. We all have friends who fit in this category.

Truthfully, I have more of a problem with people like this than with those with whom I disagree, because at least those people aren’t too lazy to formulate a position, albeit a false one, on public policy. Perhaps the thing I find most aggravating about the apathetic citizen, whether they call themselves independent or some similar title, is how unreasonably self-ennobled they are, as if they are proud of their irresponsibility. I suspect this is a defense mechanism among most of them, because if they have any character at all, they have to, deep-down, feel ashamed of their slothfulness. If not, they are indeed beyond redemption.

Statistics prove this. Over ten million gun owners are not registered to vote. It’s estimated that 30 percent of Christians are not registered to vote. It’s these people, along with the slackers who may be registered but choose to remain ignorant of public affairs or perhaps stay home on election day who have America sitting on a knife’s edge between freedom and tyranny. It’s also grating for those of us who are willing to live up to our civic responsibilities that go with self-government.

It’s been said that every apathetic person is a brick in a tyrants throne, but you can rest assured that when things go bad, I mean, really bad under the depravity that is being pushed upon us, the apathetic slugs will cry the loudest, which, in itself, makes the force of apathy the most annoying, if not the most destructive.
