Patient Finds Relief in Music During Hospital Stay

Dean Gardner, a patient hospitalized at WellSpan Health for heart issues, found comfort through music when his wife, Elaine, brought him his guitar. Gardner, who has more than 50 years of playing experience, began strumming songs during his stay.

His playing lifted the spirits of hospital staff, including nurses and doctors, with one nurse moved to tears during his impromptu performance.

WellSpan Health shared that Gardner’s guitar playing became an important source of relief and comfort during his recovery.
