PDHA Highlights Carol Fortney in March Member Spotlight

The Pennsylvania Dental Hygienists’ Association, Inc. has named Carol Fortney, RDH, PHDHP, EFDA, as its March Member Spotlight.

Fortney works at Keystone Dental Care, FQHC. She is a graduate of Allegheny Community College in Cumberland, Maryland, where she completed her education in 1992.

According to the spotlight, Fortney discovered her passion for dental hygiene as a senior at a Career and Technical Education center. After shadowing in a dental office through a co-op placement, she chose dental hygiene as her career.

The association said Fortney is passionate about patient education and prevention, with a focus on helping patients of all ages understand the connection between home care and overall health. One of the most rewarding parts of her career, according to the spotlight, is working with patients who feel their dental health cannot improve and helping them return to a healthy, functional smile.

Outside of work, Fortney enjoys spending time with her family and serving in her church community. She is the mother of two children. Her son, Shane, serves in the Army National Guard and is studying to become an airplane mechanic. Her daughter, Carrie, is exploring interests in marketing and web design through career and technical education at the same school Fortney attended as a high school student.

Who We Are

The Franklin County Free Press, established by Vicky Taylor in 2019, emerged as a beacon of local journalism for the residents of Franklin County. Under Vicky's leadership, it quickly became an essential source of news, particularly at a time when major newspaper publications were increasingly overlooking local coverage.

On January 1, 2022, the torch was passed to Nathan Neil and his firm, Neil Publishing, LLC. Neil, a local entrepreneur with multiple thriving businesses in Chambersburg, shares Vicky's fervent commitment to both the community and the world of local journalism.

Rooted in the heart of Franklin County and powered by its residents, the Franklin County Free Press continues to bridge the gap, ensuring that the local stories, events, and issues that matter most to the community remain in the spotlight.
