Rode the Peanut Circuit? Got Photos? FC Historical Society Wants You!

CHAMBERSBURG (Aug. 15, 2009) — The Franklin County Historical Society will host an event, the Cruisin’ the Peanut Circuit on September 14 from 12 to 5 p.m. at The Old Jail, 175 East King Street.

The Society is seeking photographs and memorabilia from the Peanut Circuit or past racing scene to display during the party.

There will also be live music, and beer and food vendors at the event.

Sponsorships are also available.

To loan exhibit materials or be a sponsor, contact the Society at 717-264-1667.

Built in 1818, The Old Jail is the home of the Franklin County Historical Society, founded in 1898.  

Each year the Society serves thousands through its tours, genealogy library, events, and educational presentations.

Tyrone Adam Baltimore Sr. 1940-2026

Guided by a lifelong interest in logistics, he attended both Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Richmond to study transportation.

Robert D. Hamsher 1939-2026

Robert was a United States Navy Veteran and retired with over 30 years of service with the United States Navy Reserves as a Chief Petty Officer.

Who We Are

The Franklin County Free Press, established by Vicky Taylor in 2019, emerged as a beacon of local journalism for the residents of Franklin County. Under Vicky's leadership, it quickly became an essential source of news, particularly at a time when major newspaper publications were increasingly overlooking local coverage.

On January 1, 2022, the torch was passed to Nathan Neil and his firm, Neil Publishing, LLC. Neil, a local entrepreneur with multiple thriving businesses in Chambersburg, shares Vicky's fervent commitment to both the community and the world of local journalism.

Rooted in the heart of Franklin County and powered by its residents, the Franklin County Free Press continues to bridge the gap, ensuring that the local stories, events, and issues that matter most to the community remain in the spotlight.
