A Plant Biology class visiting from Penn State Mont Alto with Forestry Instructor Jennie Mazzone (Franklin County Master Gardener Coordinator) was led by Penn State Extension Agronomy Educator Tosh Mazzone on a plant biology lesson in vegetative plant propagation: installing native plant material to improve the riparian buffer along the Falling Spring Branch of the Conococheague Creek at the Franklin County Eco Park. Approximately 50 native plants including black willow (Salix nigra) and silky willow (Salix sericea) were installed along the toe of stream bank at a 2’x2’ spacing. Along the way, the class learned about the many services provided at Penn State Extension, and how Extension connects landowners with agricultural specialists locally and across Pennsylvania
