PennDOT Driver License Centers to Close for Labor Day Holiday

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that all driver license and photo centers, including the full-service center in Harrisburg, will be closed from Saturday, August 30, 2025, through Monday, September 1, 2025, in observance of Labor Day.

Driver and vehicle services remain available online through PennDOT’s Driver and Vehicle Services website, which operates 24/7. Online services include license and photo ID renewals, vehicle registration renewals, driver-history services, address changes, restoration letters, payment of restoration fees, duplicates, REAL ID pre-verification, and driver exam scheduling. There are no additional fees for using these online services.

A complete listing of PennDOT driver and photo license center holiday closings for 2025 is available online. Customers planning to use an Online Messenger Service Center are advised to call ahead for hours of operation.

Travelers flying domestically are reminded that a REAL ID driver’s license, ID card, or another form of acceptable identification, such as a passport, is required to board flights. Information on obtaining a REAL ID is available at pa.gov/REALID.

Motorists can check traffic conditions at www.511PA.com, which provides travel delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed updates, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. The service is free and available at all times through the website, smartphone app, by calling 5-1-1, or through regional X alerts.

Who We Are

The Franklin County Free Press, established by Vicky Taylor in 2019, emerged as a beacon of local journalism for the residents of Franklin County. Under Vicky's leadership, it quickly became an essential source of news, particularly at a time when major newspaper publications were increasingly overlooking local coverage.

On January 1, 2022, the torch was passed to Nathan Neil and his firm, Neil Publishing, LLC. Neil, a local entrepreneur with multiple thriving businesses in Chambersburg, shares Vicky's fervent commitment to both the community and the world of local journalism.

Rooted in the heart of Franklin County and powered by its residents, the Franklin County Free Press continues to bridge the gap, ensuring that the local stories, events, and issues that matter most to the community remain in the spotlight.
