PennDOT Highlights Safety Impact of Cable Median Barriers

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) reports that it invests about $10 million each year in low-cost safety improvements aimed at reducing roadway crashes.

According to PennDOT, high tension cable median barriers have significantly reduced fatal and serious injury cross-median crashes on interstates. Data shows a 90% reduction in these types of crashes where the barriers have been installed.

PennDOT also reminds motorists to pay attention while driving, follow posted speed limits, and wear seat belts.
