The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture is urging residents to help control spotted lanternflies as the invasive insects remain active across the state.
Spotted lanternflies feed on a variety of plants and have a preference for grapevines, maple trees, black walnut, birch, willow and other trees.
According to the department, feeding by spotted lanternflies can place significant stress on plants, potentially reducing their health and, in some cases, contributing to plant death.
Residents who see spotted lanternflies are encouraged to kill them.
