Pennsylvania Department of Health Shares Information on Lyme Disease Rashes

The Pennsylvania Department of Health is reminding residents that Lyme disease rashes do not always have the classic bull’s-eye appearance.

According to the department, about 70% to 80% of people with Lyme disease develop a rash. The rash typically appears three to 30 days after a tick bite.

Lyme disease rashes can grow slowly and become large. The department noted that there are several types of Lyme disease rashes, along with other conditions that may look similar.

Not everyone with Lyme disease develops a rash.
