The Pennsylvania Department of Health is reminding pet owners to check their animals for ticks every day, especially after they have been outdoors.
Ticks can carry diseases that affect both people and pets. They can also enter homes by attaching themselves to animals.
Pet owners should check around their pet’s eyelids, ears, collar and tail, as well as under the front legs, between the back legs and between the toes. Any attached ticks should be removed immediately.
