Pennsylvania Recognizes Crash Responder Safety Week Nov. 2–6

Gov. Josh Shapiro has proclaimed Nov. 2–6, 2026, Crash Responder Safety Week in Pennsylvania.

The proclamation recognizes law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, safety service patrol operators, PennDOT and public works crews, and tow operators who respond to traffic incidents.

PennDOT is reminding drivers to follow Pennsylvania’s Move Over Law when approaching an emergency response area. Drivers must move into a lane farther from the response area when safe. If unable to move over safely, drivers must slow to at least 20 mph below the posted speed limit, according to the proclamation.

The proclamation also asks road users to follow Pennsylvania’s Slow Down, Move Over, and Driver Removal laws to help protect responders.

More information is available at penndot.pa.gov/moveover.
