All babies born in Pennsylvania receive a newborn screening after birth to identify certain health conditions, including genetic disorders.
Three screenings are conducted within 24 to 48 hours after birth:
- Blood spot screening
- Hearing screening
- Heart screening
Early detection and treatment can help prevent long-term health problems and improve outcomes.
