Pennsylvania Treasury Launches New Unclaimed Property Website

Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity announced the launch of searchandclaimpa.gov, a new website for searching and claiming unclaimed property.

The upgraded system includes automatic matching for properties linked to the same owner, automatic returns of qualifying properties worth $500 or less and additional fraud protections. Search results now display exact values below $500 and identify properties valued at more than $500. Users can also email property information to friends or relatives.

Since the new system launched, its automatic matching feature has connected an additional $5 million in property with people who filed claims.

Treasury has returned more than $1.2 billion in unclaimed property since Garrity took office. More than $5 billion remains to be returned. More than one in 10 Pennsylvania residents is owed unclaimed property, with an average claim value exceeding $1,000.

Unclaimed property may include dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, forgotten stocks, collectible coins, jewelry and savings bonds.

Residents can search for property at searchandclaimpa.gov.
