pa flag

Treasurer Stacy Garrity announced that the Pennsylvania Treasury Department will hold its largest auction of unclaimed property starting Wednesday, October 30, and continuing through Friday, November 1. The online auction will feature 5,700 items, including jewelry, coins, currency, and collectibles, all previously stored in the Treasury’s vault.

Key items in the auction include:

  • A 14K yellow gold “Chief” pendant with 2.00 ctw diamonds
  • Several gold and platinum rings with diamonds
  • Rare U.S. 1934 five hundred dollar notes
  • South Africa gold Eland Natura series coins
  • U.S. gold type sets
  • Georgian silver marrow scoop

The majority of the items will be available on October 30. Bidders can register and preview the items at pookandpook.com.

Treasurer Garrity emphasized that the auction is necessary to make room in the Treasury’s vault for new items, although the department works for at least three years to locate the rightful owners of unclaimed property before auctioning it. Proceeds from the auction remain available for rightful owners to claim at any time.

The Pennsylvania Treasury is currently holding more than $4.5 billion in unclaimed property. Since taking office, Treasurer Garrity has returned over $750 million to Pennsylvanians.
