Pennsylvania Treasury will hold an online auction Wednesday, Oct. 28, featuring about 6,000 unclaimed items, including jewelry, coins, currency and precious metals.
Items scheduled for auction include a platinum ring with a 6.11-carat round diamond and 38 single-cut diamonds, a gold-filled Waltham pocket watch, a 1907-S Liberty Head $20 gold coin with a 22-karat mount, and an 18-karat yellow gold Omega wristwatch with a matching gold band.
Interested bidders can register at pookandpook.com. Auction listings may change if new information about an item’s authenticity, estimated value or other discrepancies is discovered. Treasury employees and their immediate family members cannot bid.
Tangible unclaimed property most often comes to Treasury from abandoned safe deposit boxes. Proceeds from auctioned items remain available indefinitely for rightful owners to claim.
Treasury reports that more than $5 billion in unclaimed property is owed to more than one in 10 Pennsylvanians. The average claim exceeds $1,000. Other types of unclaimed property include dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, forgotten stocks and insurance policies.
