CHAMBERSBURG — Police have obtained arrest warrants for two men wanted for questioning in Saturday morning’s South Main Street shooting.
Christopher Curtis Darby, 33, and Ryan O’Neil Jefferson, 25, were described by police as former convicts banned from possessing a firearm.
Darby has a criminal record going back to 2004, when he was charged with felony riot and misdemeanor criminal conspiracy. The riot charge was not prosecuted in return for a guilty plea to conspiracy.
Jefferson’s criminal record includes a number of felony drug charges filed in 2010. He pled guilty to one of the charges and the rest were not prosecuted.
Police did not list an address for Darby or Jefferson but most recent court records showed McConnellsburg addresses for both.
Police did not elaborate on the possible role of either man in the 5:30 a.m. shooting, just calling them “persons of interest” in the investigation.
Two people were injured in the shooting that happened shortly before 5:30 a.m. Saturday in the 300 block of South Main.
According to a CPD news release, a fight broke out among several people attending a party. Multiple shots were fired and two people were hit by bullets.
Both victims were transported to the Chambersburg Hospital and then flown out to other medical facilities.
Police said the shooting was an isolated dispute between two different groups who were known to each other.
South Main was closed to traffic between Washington and Catherine Streets all morning as police investigated.
The investigation is ongoing. CPD asks anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the department at 264-4131 or leave a tip on Crimewatch.
