Greencastle-Antrim Chamber: Pets Are Family winners

Pets are family

The Pets Are Family Too contest winners include Lois Stichen’s cat Kilo and Sharon Samuels’ dog Bo.

The pet photo contest sponsored by the Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce generated just over $400 for the Antietam Humane Society. The Chamber posted the 20 pet photo entries in local businesses during the community’s annual Heritage Christmas celebration. The community then voted for their favorite photo at $1 per vote.

Kilo, a pure white cat, posed under the branches of a white Christmas tree to take the top cat title. Lois Stichen submitted the photo.

Bo, a Cocker Spaniel dressed in a festive Christmas-themed scarf and red and white Santa cap, is top dog. The creative photo included a stocking with a note to “Santa Paws” describing Bo as a very good dog. Sharon Samuels submitted the photo.

“This year the Heritage Christmas theme was Claus & Paws so this contest was a way for people to share fun pet pictures and raise money for a worthy cause,” said G-ACC Executive Director Debby Cunningham. “Thank you to the pet owners who submitted their pictures, to the local businesses who posted the pet photos, and to those who voted in the Pets Are Family Too contest.”

Greencastle-Antrim’s holiday celebration started with the community’s annual Christmas tree lighting Nov, 19 and included the annual Heritage Christmas celebration with contests, entertainment, giveaways and tasty treats from local community groups and food vendors.
