Mr. Philip H “Phil” Pelton, 67, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, in his home.
Born January 8, 1954 in Andover, NY, he was the son of the late Sylvester and Glenora (Baker) Pelton. He lived in Andover, NY and Breinigsville, PA before moving to the Waynesboro area.
Mr. Pelton was a graduate of Alfred State College and was a longtime employee of both Sealed Air Corporation and US Chemical, where he received numerous accolades for his dedication to the companies. He retired in 2017.
He attended Hollowell Brethren in Christ Church, Greencastle, PA and Otterbein Church, Waynesboro.
He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, never one to pass up the opportunity to share a good story, as well as a good joke. He was also well known in his neighborhood for his personality and his self-appointed position as the “welcome committee.” He had the biggest heart and was loved by all who crossed his path.
Mr. Pelton is survived by his devoted wife, Mrs. Debbie (Benachowski) Pelton whom he married November 25, 2017; two daughters and one son-in-law, Kaitlyn and Jordan Bingaman of Chambersburg and Brittany Benachowski of Wheeling, WV; one grandchild, Nora Bingaman; his sisters Lois Kemp of Latrobe, PA, Barb Whitehead of Avondale, AZ, Cheryl Monroe of Andover, NY; one sister-in-law Doris Pelton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Dale and Norman Pelton.
A private memorial service is to be held at Hollowell Church at the convenience of the family.
