Born October 21, 1955 in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Melvin I. and Rosella B. “Rose” (Helman) Peck.

Phyllis enjoyed her job at Trickling Springs Creamery, Chambersburg, PA, making friends with many of her customers with her lovingly ornery personality. Prior to that she had worked for a time at Corning Glass in Greencastle, PA.

She married the love of her life, Chester “Chet” Pfeiffer, July 21, 1990 at Greencastle First Church of God. They celebrated their anniversary every year with a trip to Romney, West Virginia, always taking a different back road to reach their destination.

She was a member of Fayetteville Church of God, Greencastle Church of God, and Mountain Top Ministries, Orrtanna.

Phyllis put God first in her life, faithfully reading her bible every morning. She also practiced her faith in her daily life as a devoted wife, sister, aunt and friend to many.

She loved her frequent visits to Ocean City, MD. She was an excellent cook, baker and hostess, often sharing her delectable dishes with others.

Phyllis loved life and found ways to spread her sunshine to others through her generosity and creative sense of humor. She was very spontaneous! Maybe she’d hide a gummy bear in your sandwich, maybe she would make you play a hide and seek game to find your Christmas present, maybe she’d impress you with her great Lilly Tomlin impersonation or perhaps she’d surprise you with a headstand! You never knew quite what to expect, but you could always count on her to bring a smile to your face and to warm your heart with her playfulness.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sisters: Doris Rowe (Ronnie), Greencastle; Brenda Monn (James), Waynesboro; Dianne Carbaugh (Marvin), Greencastle; Joyce Hade (Don), Greencastle; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a niece, Angie Wyatt.

A Celebration of Phyllis’ life will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 14, 2021 in Five Forks BIC Church, 9244 Five Forks Rd., Waynesboro, PA with Rev. Floyd Myers, Pastor Ken Reid
and Rev. Richard Berkey officiating.

Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle, is handling the arrangements.

On-line condolences may be expressed at the funeral home’s website.
