CPD: Police asking for help in car theft

Chambersburg Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying three men who might have information about the theft of a blue Nissan sedan in downtown early Saturday morning.

Investigators released images of three people caught on surveillance cameras in the area where the crime took place that morning. They describe the individuals as “persons of interest,” not necessarily suspects. They might have information that would help investigators solve the crime, police said.

The car’s driver reported the theft to police at 12:29 a.m. Saturday. The driver told police he/she parked the car near their residence in the 100 block of East Washington Avenue; then went inside for 3-5 minutes and returned to find the car missing.

The stolen vehicle is a blue Nissan Sentra with West Virginia license plate NZW609.  The vehicle is has a blue ground-effect light that is activated by braking. The vehicle has a windshield decal which reads, “Nissan.”

Police ask that anyone who can identify the individuals contact the CPD at 264-4131; or leave a tip on the CRIMEWATCH® website.
