Pennslvania State Police have identified a Virginia woman killed in a crash late Friday night on I-81.
Marie Hoyer, 42, of Martinsville, Va., was pronounced dead at the scene of the 11:47 p.m crash in Southampton Township.
A 12-year-old passenger was trapped in Hoyer’s car after it hit the back of an 18-wheeler Kentworth rig. The car had rotated clock-wise After collided with the truck, coming to a stop on the berm of the road.
First responders from Shippensburg’s West End Fire and Rescue freed her by non-mechanical means, according to the police press release.
She was taken to Hershey Medical Center for treatment of injuries she suffered in the crash.
The Kentworth, driven by Brian C. Lubic, 40, of Scottsdale, was stopped in backed-up traffic in the Northbound right lane on the interstate highway.
He was uninjured. Both vehicles had disabling damage and had to be towed from the scene.
Police were assisted at the scene by personnel from the fire department, fire police, Franklin County Coroner’s Office, Triple K. Towing, Abe’s Auto and PennDOT.
