At least two gunshots fired early Sunday morning in Waynesboro probably came from a passing vehicle, police said today.

Waynesboro police rushed to the first block of Mt. Airy Avenue at 4 a.m. Sunday after a resident heard two gunshots. As police sped to the scene, more residents called 911 to report hearing additional shots. Callers reported hearing as many as a dozen shots.

An investigation confirmed that at least two shots were fired, probably from a passing vehicle.

Waynesboro police ask that anyone who might have seen anything or have information about the incident contact police at 717-762-2131.
