CHAMBERSBURG (Alf. 24, 2019) — Police report a number of minor and not-so-minor crimes recently.
RETAIL THEFT: On Aug. 22, Chambersburg Police Department officers were dispatched to 1 Monticello Court for a report of retail theft. Once there, officers identified the suspect as Derrell McKelvey, 30, Chambersburg. He is accused of taking a pack of gum and attempted to leave the store without paying for it. McKelvey was charged with 1 count of summary retail theft.
HIT AND RUN: On 08/21/2019 CPD officers took a report of an accident involving damage to an attended vehicle in the parking lot of Kohl’s Department Store.
The vehicle pictured struck the victim’s vehicle while she was driving and then did not stop to exchange information. It is believed to be a newer model Ford Fusion with Massachusetts registration plates.
The operator of the vehicle is a person of interest, but not necessarily a suspect at this time.

BURGLARY: On 08/14/2019 CPD officers were dispatched to investigate a burglary which had taken place in the 500 block of South Main Street.
The suspect was able to steal a black Xbox One from the victim’s residence. Anyone with information relating to this crime is asked to contact the Chambersburg Borough Police Department.
VANDALISM: Sometime between Friday 08/16/2019 and Monday 08/19/2019, an unknown person broke two windows out of a construction vehicle parked near Cedar Street.

RETAIL THEFT: On 08/05/2019 at local business owner reported a young female stole a keychain from the business on 08/03/2019 at about 1245 pm.
The person shown in this photo may have information relevant to an ongoing police investigation. She is a person of interest, but not necessarily a suspect at this time.
