Product Recalls Issued for Children’s Helmets and Firearm Sights

January 8, 2025 – Two major product recalls have been announced due to safety violations. Wemfg has recalled approximately 6,500 multi-purpose children’s helmets, and SIG SAUER has recalled about 230,000 ROMEO5 red dot firearm sights. Both products are cited for non-compliance with federal safety regulations.

Children’s Helmets Recall The helmets, sold exclusively on Amazon.com, fail to meet the CPSC federal safety regulations for bicycle helmets, specifically in terms of positional stability, impact, labeling, and certification. There is a risk that the helmets may not adequately protect in the event of a crash, posing a potential head injury hazard.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the helmets and contact Wemfg for a full refund. To initiate the refund process, consumers are instructed to cut off the helmet straps, take a photo, and email it along with their Amazon order number to 961837339@qq.com. Following this, the helmet should be disposed of. Wemfg and Amazon are proactively reaching out to all known purchasers.

Consumer Contact for Helmets:

Firearm Sights Recall The ROMEO5 red dot sights have been recalled due to an ingestion hazard linked to their button cell batteries, which are easily accessible, violating Reese’s Law. This law mandates that consumer products containing such batteries must have child-resistant packaging and bear appropriate warnings. The absence of these safety measures can lead to serious injuries or death if the batteries are ingested.

Remedy: SIG SAUER is offering a free recall kit which includes a new cap and updated instruction manual. Consumers should stop using the sights immediately and contact SIG SAUER for further instructions on how to locate the serial number and receive the recall kit.

Consumer Contact for Firearm Sights:

Consumers owning these products are urged to follow the recall instructions to mitigate any risks and safeguard their safety.
