PSAC athletes of the week

PSAC named two SU athletes as the conference’s Athletes of the Week last week. PSAC athletes of the week include SU’s Hayden Hunt and Brycen Mussina.

 Shippensburg University’s Hayden Hunt (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg Area) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week after winning the individual title at the Dickinson Short Invitational on last weekend.

Hunt was the fastest runner in the 131-person field, completing 4K in 12:31. He was the first of six Raiders who finished consecutively in first through sixth place in the race that was conducted at Big Spring High School.

It is the first time that an SU runner has been named the PSAC Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week since Rob Moser on Oct. 16, 2018.

Football Offensive Athlete of the Week

Mussina earns league honor for second consecutive week

Brycen Mussina

Shippensburg University redshirt-junior quarterback Brycen Mussina (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville (Lafayette)) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Football Offensive Athlete of the Week on last Monday, earning the honor for the second consecutive week.

In a 51-7 win over Bloomsburg, Mussina connected with eight different receivers and was 24-of-30 for a season-high 392 yards before he was relieved in the fourth quarter. Mussina threw two touchdown passes and ran 22 yards for a touchdown on a 3rd-and-19 play – the first rushing touchdown of his collegiate career.

Saturday’s performance marked Mussina’s second consecutive 300-yard passing game and was the tenth 300-yard passing game of his career.  

Through four games this season, Mussina has thrown for 1,105 yards, 10 touchdowns and zero interceptions and completed 69% of his passes.

It is Mussina’s third career PSAC weekly award.
