PSAC Swimming Athlete of the Week

Shippensburg University announced their men and women’s swimming athletes of the week. For the men is Andrew Hale, who contributed to three first-place finishes in Friday’s dual meet victory. Allie Keeling was named PSAC Women’s Swimming Athlete of the Week. She posted conference qualifiers in the 500 and 1,650 freestyle.

Andrew Hale

Senior Andrew Hale (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Men’s Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday afternoon by the league office.

In Friday’s dual meet victory over Edinboro, Hale contributed to three victories. Individually, Hale made a bid for the pool record in the 200-yard IM, claiming gold with a time of 1:57.37. He also swam on both of SU’s first-place relays: the 200-yard medley relay in 1:36.72 and the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:29.75.

It is Hale’s first career weekly honor, and it is the second time a Raider has been named the PSAC Men’s Swimming Athlete of the Week this season. Vin Salvatore was honored on Oct. 26.

Allie Keeling

Freshman Allie Keeling (Redlands, Cal./Redlands) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Women’s Swimming Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon by the league office.

In Friday’s dual meet victory over Edinboro, Keeling had a solid debut with victories in the 500-yard freestyle (5:19.80) and the 1,650-yard freestyle (18:04.66) – both of which were conference qualifiers. Keeling also swam on the victorious 200-yard freestyle relay that posted a time of 1:42.62.

It is Keeling’s first career weekly honor, and it is the first time a Raider has been named the PSAC Women’s Swimming Athlete of the Week since Steph O’Toole on Nov. 22, 2016.
