Her Stats/History

Softball annually has two All-Region teams – one selected by coaches that is sponsored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and a team selected by sports information directors that is sponsored by the D2CCA. Marsteller was named to both All-Region First Teams. The NFCA does not name regional players of the year.

Marsteller is the first SU player in history to be named back-to-back D2CCA Atlantic Region Player of the Year. She is the first SU player in 16 years to earn back-to-back NFCA All-Region First Team honors, since Kelley Tiesi (2003-2006).

Marsteller is just the seventh player in PSAC history to hit .500 or better in a season and the only player in history to ever do it twice. Entering the NCAA tournament, Marsteller has a .513 batting average with 12 doubles, two triples, 17 home runs, 56 RBIs and 16 stolen bases. She leads the PSAC in batting average, home runs, RBIs, hits (80), on-base percentage (.575) and slugging percentage (.942).

Earlier this afternoon, Marsteller was named the PSAC Eastern Division Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive time. She is the first Raider in school history to earn multiple Athlete of the Year awards, having accomplished the feat in back-to-back years. She is also the first PSAC player to win back-to-back PSAC East Athlete of the Year awards in 20 years, since Bloomsburg’s Erica Miller won the award four straight seasons from 1998-2001.

Marsteller, one of 25 finalists for the 2022 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II Player of the Year award, leads the nation in batting average, ranks second in on-base percentage, fourth in slugging percentage and is tied for eighth in home runs. She began the season on a 27-game hitting streak, which resulted in a PSAC record 37-game hit streak when including the final 10 games of 2021.

All-American Sports

Sports information directors from NCAA Division II Atlantic Region schools and conferences selected the D2CCA all-region teams. The process concludes with All-American selections announced later in the month. The Atlantic Region consists of schools from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), the Mountain East Conference (MEC) and the PSAC, along with independents Bluefield State and Salem.
