Game 1: Millersville 6, Shippensburg 3

The Marauders took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first after a two-out error prefaced a two-run home run by Faith Willenbrock. In the four-game weekend series against the Raiders, Willenbrock reached base in 9-of-14 plate appearances, hitting four home runs (three on Saturday).

In the third, the Marauders got a two-out single with the bases loaded to plate two more runs and take a 4-0 lead. A Gabi Turner solo home run and a bases-loaded hit by pitch made it 6-0 in the fifth.

SU rallied with three runs in the seventh on a two-run homer by Ritter and a solo homer by Courtney Coy (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg Area).

Leber got the Game 1 start, allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits in 3.1 innings, walking two and striking out two. Tressa Kagarise (Purcellville, Va./Loudoun Valley) pitched 2.1 innings in relief, allowing two runs (one earned) while walking three and striking out three.

Game 2: Shippensburg 7, Millersville 4

Freshman pitcher Emma Flattery (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) put up zeroes in each of the first five innings; and got the win for the Raiders in the nightcap, throwing a complete game. She allowed four runs on eight hits, walking three and striking out 10. In her 12 innings pitched against Millersville this weekend, Flattery struck out 19 hitters.

The Raiders took advantage of an opportunity in the fourth inning and took a 2-0 lead on a two-run, inside-the-park homer by Hannah Marsteller (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend). Two runs scored on a sixth-inning single by Taylor Radziewicz (Felton, Pa./Red Lion), making the score 4-0.

Millersville answered in the sixth with solo homers by Bec Blatt and Willenbrock to make it 4-2 and then loaded the bases with one out on a hit by pitch and a pair of walks. Flattery maneuvered out of the jam with back-to-back strikeouts, preserving the SU lead. In the seventh, the Raiders added three insurance runs that proved vital as Willenbrock homered one more time.
