Robert E. Poleto, 92, a resident of Paramount Senior Living, Fayetteville, PA and formerly of Waynesboro, PA died Monday, June 15, 2020, in the nursing home.
Born March 5, 1928 in Renovo, PA, he was the son of the late Angelo and Florence Mae (Grovesnor) Poleto.
Mr. Poleto was a graduate of Renovo High School and later attended dental school in Baltimore, MD.
He proudly served 2 enlistments in the United States Navy. During World War II, he was stationed in the Pacific Theater and was later stationed in the Baltimore, MD and Fort Detrick, MD areas.
Mr. Poleto worked as a manager for Phillip Morris International for over 20 years. He retired in 1983.
He enjoyed traveling throughout his life.
He is survived by one daughter, Vida Mercer of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Rachel Ford, Janet Sublett, Riikka Mercer, and Robert Poleto; four great-grandchildren; his best friend of over 50 years, Bob Goss; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was the last of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Minnie Belle Poleto; three children, Margaret Poleto, Rachel Poleto, and Arthur Poleto; his step-son, George Stribling; and seven siblings, Betty Sporleder, Vivian Choha, Charles Poleto, Robert Poleto, Coralee Crayne, Francis Poleto, and Jean O’Brien.
Services and burial with full military honors will be private at the convenience of the family in Baltimore National Cemetery, Catonsville, MD.
