Mr. Robert W Abraham, 88, of Smithsburg, MD passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2021, in the Waynesboro Hospital.

Born April 20, 1933 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Andrew H.H. and Mildred F. (Poffinberger) Abraham.

He graduated from Thurmont High School with the Class of 1951.

Mr. Abraham served with the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Alaska. During his time in the service, he was a member of the All-American Rifle Team. He later served as captain and helped to establish a rifle team for the U.S. Army Reserves.

He and his wife of over 64 years, Barbara A. (Bittner) Abraham, were married on August 11, 1957.

Mr. Abraham worked for the State of Maryland for over 30 years. He worked as a game warden, forest warden, with fisheries and wildlife and lastly in public relations. He retired in 1985. Following his retirement, he worked as a fishing guide on the Potomac River and local trout streams.

He was a member of Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church, Foxville, MD, Brotherhood of the Jungle Cock (MD) where he was Past President, Forest and Stream Club of Westminster (MD) where he was Past President, Waynesboro Fish and Game, and several other local organizations.

Mr. Abraham was a proud supporter of Project Healing Waters and Wounded Warriors. He also enjoyed tying flies for fishing, hunting deer and turkeys on his property and sharing stories of his life.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Ann E. Guidone and her husband, John of Nottingham, PA, Carol L. Burger and her husband, James of Emmitsburg, MD, Robert W. Abraham, Jr. of Smithsburg, MD and Debra S. Abraham of Blue Ridge Summit, PA; five grandchildren, Jonathan Guidone, Heather Gray, Paige Green, Lydia Spalding and Hayden Spalding; and several extended family members.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Abraham.

Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
