Ronald E. Hawbaker
Ronald E. Hawbaker

Born on June 18, 1942, in Greencastle, Ronald—known to many as Ron—spent his life rooted in the community he loved.

Over the years, he built a career marked by dedication and hard work. He held positions at Farmer’s Union Co-Op, Nitterhouse, ELM Garage, and Eugene R Martin before retiring from Teleflex Marine in 2005. His strong work ethic and mechanical know-how made him a valued colleague wherever he went.

Ron was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a deep love for the outdoors, hunting and could often be found working on his tractors or tinkering with any piece of machinery that needed attention. Tractor pulls were a favorite pastime, as were quiet moments spent watching Western television shows. Above all else, Ron cherished time with his family and dogs—those moments brought him the greatest happiness.

He is survived by his loving wife Carol (Barnhart), whom he married August 30 1963; sisters Carole Burrows (Dave) and Gladys Rodriquez (Luis); children Randy Hawbaker (Patti), Robin Christman (Randy), and Rebecca Geer (Kenny); grandchildren Andrea Balcazar (JC), Cory Christman (Lauren), Randy Hawbaker (Shelby), Jared Christman (Bianca), Catlin Christman (Brighid), Jerrica Hawbaker (Lyndon), Rhyanna Geer-Jenkins (Solomon), Clyde Hawbaker, Eli Hawbaker, Ruby Hawbaker, George Hawbaker, and Levi Hawbaker; great-grandchildren Damon Martin, Nick Martin, Adalynn Hawbaker, Garrett Hawbaker, Miranda Martin, Carter Christman, Kaylin Joyner, Oaklyn Christman, Gian Balcazar, Ridleigh Christman, Bryson Edwards, Ava Balcazar, Asher Christman, Jasper Gonzalez, Liliana Christman, Hadley Hawbaker; and baby Christman on the way; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his father Galen Hawbaker; mother Dorothy Jean (Murray) Hawbaker; brother Harold Hawbaker; and youngest son Rick Hawbaker.

Ron’s legacy lives on through the many lives he touched with his kindness and sassiness. He will be deeply missed by his family and those who knew him.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, PA 17225, where Rev. James A. Murphy will officiate.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home on Wednesday.
