What Happened

Senior Adrian Thomas (Germantown, MD., Northwest HS) opened the scoring for the Phoenix netting the first two points off a good jumper in the paint. A few minutes later a steal from junior Jordan Miles (Waldorf, MD., Westlake) led to a fast break layup by senior Xavier Dowtin (Oxon Hill, MD., Oxon Hill HS).

The Ravens then responded with a run for themselves to build their lead being up by seven before the Phoenix managed to knot the game at 17 apiece with 6:20 remaining in the half. For the rest of the half Wilson’s and Rosemont’s offenses went point-for-point until the end of the half where Rosemont held the lead up by two with a score of 28-26. In the start of the second half, the Phoenix offense came out hot and built a six point lead, holding the lead until the Ravens tied the game at 41 with 11 minutes remaining. From here the Wilson offense lulled for the next seven minutes, only scoring eight points to bring the score to 63-49 with four minutes remaining in the half.

A Phoenix timeout came right with four minutes remaining which sparked the Wilson offense for their late game efforts. Down by 16, the Wilson offense chipped away at the Rosemont lead but ultimately fell short in their comeback attempt ending the game with a layup by Dowtin as time expired to put the score at 69-63.
