Mrs. Ruth Arlene Oberholzer Martin (McCormick), 96, of Greencastle, PA, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022 in Wellspan Surgery and Rehabilitation Hospital in York, PA.

Born December 26, 1925 in Chambersburg, PA, she was the only child born to the late Emery and Jessie (Beck) McCormick.

She graduated from Greencastle Antrim High School with the Class of 1944. After high school she gained employment keeping the books for Myers Implement Co., which at that time was located in Kauffman Station. She also worked as a waitress at the former Dixie Restaurant and Motel (currently Mrs. Gibble’s Restaurant), and she later worked as a secretary at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greencastle and she worked for the Antrim Township Tax Office.

Ruth was a loving and devoted mother and friend. She was very outgoing and always very organized. She enjoyed doing word search puzzles and liked to sew and do needlepoint.

She is survived by her two sons: Richard V. Oberholzer and Jeffrey L. Oberholzer, both of Greencastle; her step-children: Judith A. Barr, Greencastle, Nancy J. Cocklin, Dillsburg, PA, Donna L. Martin, Mechanicsburg, and Randy E. Martin, Chambersburg; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Oberholzer who died in 1977 and her second husband, I. Eugene “Jiggs” Martin, who died in 2000.

Services will be private, at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 N. Washington St. Greencastle, PA 17225.
