Ruth E Lougee obituary 1929~2023


Ruth E Lougee, 93, of Chambersburg, PA, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, January 17, 2023 at her home.

Born September 27, 1929 in Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Herman H. and Pauline S. Fogle Rush.

She was a graduate of North Baltimore High School, North Baltimore Ohio where she was Valedictorian of her class. Prior to marriage she was employed as a dental assistant.

A homemaker most of her life, she went to work at the age of 68 for the VFW Auxiliary Department of Pennsylvania as their Treasurer.

Mrs. Lougee was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles, word search puzzles, and playing cards. Her passion was putting together puzzles.

Her husband, Patrick J. Lougee, whom she married November 18, 1950, preceded her in death on May 14, 1974.

She is survived by seven children, Michael E. Lougee of Oviedo, FL, Rene Yeager and husband Jeffrey of Chambersburg, Thomas P. Lougee and wife Andrea of Oklahoma City, OK, Anthony M. Lougee and wife Pamela of Hampstead, MD, Jeanine Hocker and husband Gary of Chambersburg, Michelle Sterner and husband John of Biglerville, and John F. Lougee and wife Jeannette of Columbus, GA; twenty-one grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and her sister, Faye Rush of Chambersburg.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Linda Lougee, and four brothers.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Dr. Melissa Rudolph will officiate.

Interment will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until services begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Jack G “Digger” Mellott 1926-2024

Jack was a United States Navy Veteran serving at Pearl Harbor, Okinawa, Guam, and Nagasaki during WWII. Jack enjoyed working outside and maintaining his home and property.
